Rick Buchanan Memorial Award 

Rick Buchanan was a much loved team member of Duncan Regional Hospital from 1992 to 2014.  He was the Director of Medical Recruitment, where he established and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of DRH’s first full-time physician recruitment department.  Rick loved the people and community of Duncan and he loved introducing prospective physicians to Duncan and DRH.

During his 22 year career at Duncan Regional Hospital, Rick was instrumental in recruiting more than 60 physicians, CRNA’s, and Nurse Practitioners.

In 2013, Rick was diagnosed with squamous-cell carcinoma.  Rick leaned heavily on his faith, family and friends as he bravely fought this disease.  Unfortunately, this beloved husband, loving father, dedicated businessman and community leader passed away quietly at his home on August 16, 2014.

The Rick Buchanan Memorial Medical Student/Resident Award will honor not only this remarkable man but a medical student/resident who believes in helping others with their gifts, just as Rick did.
