Education creates breakthroughs.
The DRH Health Foundation is building a Nursing Education Endowment Fund to expand our ability to fund conference-based continuing education for our nurses. The cost of sending one nurse to one national clinical conference is approximately $2,000, including fees, travel and coverage. Leading-edge continuing education integrated into the job will also improve DRH's competitive position in attracting and retaining top nursing talent.
"In a hospital where each nurse is not only a caretaker but a mentor, providing opportunities to learn about the latest procedures, technologies, and treatments are critical to the success of patient care at Duncan Regional Hospital." states Marty Askins, Foundation Scholarship Committee Chairman.
"Developing Nurses for the Present and Future at Duncan Regional Hospital"
Quality healthcare begins with good nursing. Today's nurses must be prepared to keep up with innovative and evidence based practices in order to provide the best quality of care possible. Furthermore, a nationwide shortage in registered nurses and advanced degree teaching nurses has placed a great strain on the field. Duncan Regional Hospital strives to meet the demands of today while preparing for tomorrow, and recognizes that access to educational opportunities is critical for nurses.
The Endowment provides financial support for continuing education for professional nurses including tuition for professional development and certification, and related expenses. The Endowment's long-term goal is to create a sustainable source for nursing educational and developmental priorities in order to raise the level of patient care provided at Duncan Regional Hospital.
"The generous contributions to the DRH Nursing Education Endowment Fund communicate to the nurses that people value what we do," said DRH Chief Nurse Officer, Cindy Rauh, RN, NE, MS.
