Taylor Le Norman/McCasland Cancer Center
Through the generosity of many people, the Taylor Le Norman/McCasland Cancer Center opened in September 2008. Cancer patients are able to receive their radiation and chemotherapy treatments right here, at home.
Your donation to the Taylor Le Norman/McCasland Cancer Center ensures that the Center will be here to provide much-needed treatments for generations to come.
This Center is part of a joint venture with Comanche County Hospital, Lawton and Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Altus to create the Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma.
DRH Team Members "Make a Difference"
The annual DRH Health Foundation Team Member campaign provides a way for our team members to "make a difference." Team Members and volunteers can choose between several worthy causes, one being the Taylor Le Norman/McCasland Cancer Center. Their generosity is providing funding for two new programs being implemented at the Duncan Center:
- Dietary Consultations: Patients receiving chemotherapy can experience changes in their taste and smell sensations while those receiving radiation may experience difficulty in swallowing or chewing. Referred to the dietician by their oncologist, patients receive beneficial eating ideas to practice at home. The goal is to help the patient not to lose weight and become dehydrated. They need to receive the proper proteins and nutrients to help with their healing.
- Emergency Prescriptions: There are times when a patient is in need of an antibiotic immediately and they do not have the financial ability to purchase it--this fund would be available to help. This would be regulated by the Cancer Center staff and would be a one-time assistance.
"Being the daughter of a cancer survivor and a survivor myself, the Cancer Center is very dear to my heart. Eating can be a chore for patients and having someone that can assist in making better choices is a wonderful service! It makes me feel like I am doing my part in helping patients get the most out of what they are able to eat" said Jan Patton, LPN, DRH Team Member.
This is another example of how "Together--we can make a difference."
